Activity: I created an account in Flickr and uploaded pics from the Roselle Public Library's Staff Appreciation Day.
Uses for personal photos:
- share photos with friends and family
- make photo-books, photo calendars, photo postage stamps, holiday cards, etc.
- print photos
Uses I noticed other library's using Flickr for:
- public libraries sharing photos from the library with their communities
- sharing photos from Illinois Library Day
- school libraries sharing photos
- RPL sharing photos of the Rose Parade 2007 (Where do I sign up to be a Cartwheeler this summer?)
Presence on Flickr:
I think that sharing photos with the community is a wonderful idea, however, I feel that some parents may have an issue with having their child's photo posted without giving permission. I think that putting photos on our library website is different than putting them on a photo sharing website like Flickr. I suppose the way around that issue might be to either have parents sign a form giving permission to post their child's photo or make photos "private" so that only people invited to see the photos can view them.
